On the surface his photographs seem illusory, however, upon closer observation one notices the familiarity in the smaller details of the landscapes. “Fire and Ice” is one such example. At first glance the different elements of the photograph are unidentifiable. However, as Vincent explained how he captured the photo, the individual and recognizable elements began to unfold.

“I was inspired by a creek that was frozen over and had created interesting patterns in the ice. The sun was setting which left the forest floor dark. I made a small makeshift torch out of wood materials nearby and lit it for my brief composition. I gently waved the torch nearby the lens and the thin ice simply soaked up the light from the torch.”

Delirium by Anthony Vincent - Ventrice
Delirium by Anthony Vincent“As a new Winter storm passes, the mind begins to wake up from a state of delirium. The forest reveals new textures and shapes for the one who embraces the cold. Clear your mind and let your eyes rest upon its elegance.”

Vincent’s knack for photography stemmed from his love for the outdoors. “Conditions that drive me outside are often the ones that keep most people inside. Rain, cold, frozen conditions, fog, heavy winds and storms. That is when nature comes alive and I feel the most comfortable shooting. Adverse conditions birth my best shots.” As a photographer from the Midwest he is “blessed” with unstable weather conditions that lead to the capture of his photograph “Symphony of Chimes.” Days of heavy rain followed by freezing temperatures were the driving force behind the running waterfall with its frozen surroundings and Anthony was able to find the exact angle to take in the most beautiful aspects of both.

Anthony is a fairly new photographer but has an obvious passion and talent for landscape photography which continues to impress us. Vincent doesn’t use iconic landscape shots to lure his viewers; instead, he catches the breathtaking glimpses of ordinary life.

“I treat my photography adventures like a treasure hunt. I like not knowing what I will find and sometimes scenes never present themselves to me. When I get lucky enough to be presented with a gift it makes the journey all the more sweet.”
