What is the difference between a loose print and the ready to hang UltraArt option? A loose print is just that, a fine art photograph that will need to be taken to your local framer to be matted and framed. We recommend a nice acid-free white double mat with a fine art black frame. Ultimately the colors and materials are your own personal taste. UltraArt is our premier ready to hang option. It has no frame, no matting, and 100% finished and ready for you to hang on the wall. The final presentation will “wow” you and anyone who is lucky enough to see your purchased fine art piece! We do recommend when hanging the UltraArt piece to be diligent on using robust hanging hardware and practices to ensure your fine art display will safely reside on your wall.

Have questions or need more information? Please click the link below and let us know how we can help you.

When you purchase a “loose” print from Commercial Fine Art it is shipped safely in a durable high quality environmental friendly tube. Occasionally, depending on the fine art print size and substrate, we may ship your art flat in a reinforced package. We recommend keeping the art in this original shipping package ready for transport to your local framer. We suggest minimal handling because of propensity for the art to be creased, finger printed, or damaged.

CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY (COA)

- Date of Capture (Month and Year)

Di Fruscia is an Award Winning Visionary Fine Art Nature & Landscape Photographer.

He spent most of his childhood years away from the city, having been raised mostly in the Canadian countryside. From the time of his birth, his experiences in nature was to become a large influence in affecting his ultimate passion for the beauties of the natural world.

His love for the arts has grown throughout the years, and he attributes his devotion to interpreting nature in an artistic manner to his parents’ dedication to the arts. His father, Joseph, was a professional photographer during a period in his life and his mother, Michele, was gifted with artistic talents such as drawing, painting, and interior decorating. Her fine eye for details was a big influence on his perception of nature.

As he started reading everything he could get his hands on about photography, he quickly realized that this was an art form that would enable him to express his inner feelings about the world around him. The soon became an insatiable desire to record the beauty of nature. The camera soon became the perfect medium to express his true inner feelings.

The crux of his search was found while visiting the magnificent Gaspe Peninsula. On a warm Fall morning he approached the summit of Mont Ernest LaForce and discovered the breathtaking views spread out before him. At that point he knew this was it! Nature was calling his name loud and clear. This was a magical moment that he will remember forever. The art of photography had now turned to a true passion.

Since then, Di Fruscia’s work has won many awards, has been published and displayed thru a multitude of Medias (books, calendars, magazines, travel guides etc.) and by many prestigious companies such as, National Geographic and Kodak, just to name a few. His work has also been displayed in several art galleries around the world.

Di Fruscia has set his goals to always improve his craft. His quest to become a better photographer will never cease. He personally think that the learning curve is endless, and he has only himself to criticize when he feels that he is not living up to his artistic endeavors. Constantly searching for those rare magical moments when the Perfect Light embraces nature in all its glory, you can rest assured – that this is only the beginning of a long and dedicated quest to capture the breathtaking beauty of nature.

Taken in Voss, Norway on my recent trip. The Tindefossen Fall was very special. It had numerous levels that you can climb to and explore. If the light is good (ex. on an overcast day), you can literally spend the whole day shooting it and come up with numerous different interesting images. It had to be one of the waterfalls with the most photo opportunity I had the pleasure of witnessing. Here I opted to use my Canon 700-200 L F.2.8 lens and only frame a tiny part of the whole waterfall. I simply loved the way the top rock was sort glowing from the top and decided to shoot a few angles of that particular spots. I framed the elements in the scene to create a composition that is pleasing to the eye. I often find that shooting just a small portion creates better results than always trying to capture the whole thing. The blue tone of the image really gives it that cold feeling I was looking for.

EF 50mm f/1.4 USM at f/11

ISO 320 B&W ND Filter 1.0 Second

My intention was to get the shutter speed to 1.0 seconds, knowing (after a few tests), this would result in a wave motion I was trying to achieve. I picked f/11 to maximize sharpness and maintain needed DOF for this particular FOV, as well as the near, middle, and far components of the composition. My B&W filter is not a variable ND, so I used the ISO setting to create a “vari-ND” filter. (Without spending $400 on a vari-ND from singh-ray ;~} ) Simply dialing in the ISO (important, do this after setting WB, see below) for an accurate exposure.

White balance. To maximize DR and toning, I did a custom white balance so when looking at the histogram, all three channels had an equal ETTR starting point.( Custom WB with manual XY offsets) This made the image look ugly on lcd, but I knew my final intention would be a dramatic black and white.

As the sets of waves came in, I took multiple shots. For this particular shot, I ended up taking 12 images, and picking the best 2 for blending.

Finally, subtle dodging and burning finishes with a slight dark midnight blue tint. (The artists touch)

A note on sharpness and f/11. I could have easily set the f-stop to f/16 or f/22 and possibly negated the use of a ND filter. Because most of my fine art prints are output at 28” x 42” (largest safe size on a 44” Epson 9880) I choose to use f/11. The effects of diffraction are minimized, light fall off in the corners is minimized, DOF is more than sufficient given the distance from me to subject, and the content of the composition.

Although Patrick’s Di Fruscia’s journey with professional photography began when an employer asked him to take photos of a sport supplement line, his passion for capturing unique landscapes developed while he was visiting Gaspe Peninsula.

“That day it hit me like some sort of divine intervention. I wanted to experience, see, and feel the beauty of our beautiful planet and photography was the perfect medium to do so.”

Since that moment, Patrick has worked tirelessly to perfect his craft.

Patrick’s photography has taken him to many exciting locations. His ability to embrace nature’s elements and adapt to the obstacles presented by each new location have resulted striking images from all over the world.

“Situations like a fleeting snowfall, storms, rainbows, or lightning are not something you can easily predict, especially when you are on assignment away from home. But when everything seems to fall into place and you are lucky to be on location when any great weather phenomena happen—it quickly makes you forget all the time you went out and nothing happened. I always strive for that moment when the perfect light embraces nature in all its glory.”

Patrick’s ability to capture temporary weather phenomena can be seen in More than Words and Emotions.

This was a good and a bad thing…good because the place was almost deserted and bad because I knew that I wouldn’t be able to capture the famous beam of light that we constantly see in pictures of that location. Even if it has been done a million times, I honestly think that every landscape photographer would love to have one of these in his or her portfolio. Instead, I decided to make the most out of my situation and try to come up with some sort of composition that would be different from what I had already seen. I spent most of my time, trying out stuff without being satisfied with the results until I decided to point the camera directly above my head and saw this great comp in the viewfinder. I knew this was going to be an interesting shot. I was very happy to see that the brightly lit sky above combined with the long exposure created a “sunburst” type effect. In my opinion, this small but very important element is what makes it such a keeper.”
